Oval (Delos) is a wood sculpture 85.8 x 122 cm, made from scented guarea wood with paint a well. She did this piece from when she travelled to Greece. the sculpture was inspired by the landscape and caves. Delos is the caves of apollo and also the island around which the Cyclades lie in an oval form

The smoothness of the wood is so different to the sharp angles and shape of the oval, also the contrast of the smoothness of the wood to the paint it intriguing, it’s like she has tried to create the roughness of the caves but with the smooth sea and sky of Greece. the paint is also like the wood without a finish, it’s all rough looking but adds a variety
